Awapuhi Starter Set - Non Toxic Nail Polish

So many gorgeous colors! The polish held up really well. I had very little chipping considering how rough I am on my hands.

Great to find a non-toxic environmentally conscious nail product. The Awapuhi color was a bright fun hot pink color with a pearled hue. Their photos (as viewed on my computer) matched the product. I followed the layering instructions: clean, dry nails; base; color: base. One layer of color worked for me, but 2 layers would probably be an even richer color. If the base/top coat is applied evenly over the nail and over the edge, this polish will last well over a week without chipping. Previous store brands and Butter London would chip on me after a couple of days. I had forgotten to purchase the shine coat and luckily they sent a free sample with my order. Definitely makes the nails shine. The color and base/top coat are somewhat matte without the shine coat. Only needed a very thin layer of shine coat for a very shiny appearance.
Removal is not so great. With traditional polishes, I would use a pot of acetone to dip each finger through a sponge layer - very easy. The Kapa Nui remover does work for their polish chemistry, but the dispenser bottle is not so easy. After many tries, I could not get the remover gel to flow directly on to my nail from the pump. Even though I had it pointed directly at my nail, it would always squirt off in some odd direction (like my finger, the table, the counter etc.) - even with a towel or napkin under my hand, too much of it was being wasted. It did not flow out nicely like in their video - it would burst out of the pump. So instead of trying to squirt directly on the nail, I cup one hand with one of the remover pads and squirt the remover onto the pad. Cupping the palm helps to prevent the gel from squirting elsewhere. Then I put the pad on the nail with the glob of gel centered on the nail and move the pad around a bit to coat the nail. Wait 30 seconds and rub the polish off with the same pad.
